Formia

FORMIA: the ancient "Hormiae" was very loved by Roman people thanks to the warm climate, so that it was called “natural tiepidarium”. Hereby Cicero had a residence and the tomb that you may visit. The importance of the ancient Roman city is shown in the National Museum of Formia and in the so called Roman “cisternone” (big sink) in the medieval district of Castellone. Formia has also a nature trail in the Park of Gianola, where the Mediterranean garrigue meets the ruins of a Roman small harbour and the grotto of janara. During Christmas holidays it is possible to see the performance of Nativity in the small town district of Maranola.

ARCHEOLOGICAL TOUR

Walk in the district of Castellone: the medieval tower and the big sink of Roman age. Then, visit at the National Archeological Museum, full of relics of the territory.
